
Housing Accommodations
Registered Students with disabilities and/or medical conditions that require a specific type of housing assignment may request housing accommodations through Disability Support Services (DSS). DSS partners with Department of Residence Life to coordinate appropriate and accessible room assignments based on documented need and space availability. The forms are editable PDF forms. Please ensure that these are submitted typed. Provider sections need to be submitted by your provider directly to DSS either via email to [email protected] or faxed to (973) 761-9185. If you have not yet registered with DSS, you will need to register with DSS prior to any housing accommodations being reviewed. Housing Accommodation Requests Forms are Ready for 25-26 Academic Year Review.
- Summer Housing Accommodation Requests are to be submitted on these forms – Please ensure you indicate if you also need an accommodation for your summer housing for summer 2025.
- Returning students must complete the 25-26 Returning Students Housing Accommodation Request Form and submit to DSS by March 15, 2025.
- First-year and transfer students must complete the 25-26 Incoming Students Housing Accommodation Form and submit to DSS by May 15, 2025.
- For any Returning student seeking to apply for a support animal, please complete the 25-26 Returning Students ESA Housing Accommodation Request Form by March 15, 2025.
- For any Incoming or Transfer student seeking to apply for a support animal, please complete the 25-26 Incoming Students ESA Housing Accommodation Request Form by May 15, 2025.
If you are a student seeking a support animal and another type of housing accommodation, you will need to submit both the respective 25-26 Housing Accommodation Request Form for either Returning or Incoming students and the 25-26 ESA Housing Accommodation Request Form for either Returning or Incoming Students by the above deadlines (March 15, 2025 for Returning Students; May 15, 2025 for Incoming Students).
Things To Remember
- Students must complete the DSS Housing Accommodation Request each year if they wish to continue receiving housing accommodations.
- Requests for accommodations are considered based on need and availability.
- Determinations are made by a committee of appropriate University Officials.
- Students will be notified of a decision via university email, ahead of Room Selection in April-May for returning students, and by July 1st for incoming students.
- Students may submit a housing accommodation request form or support animal request form past the above posted deadlines to be reviewed if new needs emerge past the deadlines. DSS does not have any saved housing, so any accommodations to be provided outside of the initial timeframe for housing placements are considered based on what rooms, if any, are available to accommodate the need. Any needs supported by DSS that do not have availability will go on a list pending placement should a space open up during the year.
- Questions about costs and fees should be directed to Residence Life.
- Students who wish to live on campus must be registered for a full-time course load of 12 credits, unless alternative arrangements have been made through DSS.
- Students will be contacted by an administrator from the Department of Residence Life to discuss the implementation of approved housing accommodation.
